The Committee on Inner Asian and Altaic Studies is proud to announce that Joshua Freeman will receive his PhD diploma on Commencement Day, May 30, 2019. Freeman successfully defended his dissertation, "Print and Power in the Communist Borderlands: The Rise of Uyghur National Culture," on April 22, 2019. After graduation he will be heading to Princeton to join the prestigious Society of Fellows for a three-year postdoctoral appointment. Congratulations Josh, and best wishes!
